Who We Are and Why We Founded the Foundation

A team of enthusiasts, community activists, and professionals who believe they can make a difference – or at least try.

At the beginning, the Foundation was created by a small group of friends from Warmia – beekeeping enthusiasts who respect nature and watched with concern how rapidly it has been changing.

The founders’ passion proved contagious, and the team quickly expanded across the country.

We bring together specialists from various fields who have been closely connected with nature for years – beekeepers, foresters, gardeners, craftsmen, carpenters, creators, editors, and researchers. Amateurs and professionals united by a shared passion and common goal.

That goal is to care for the natural environment, promote ecological values, and educate. At the top of our priorities are insects – especially wild pollinators and solitary bees.

We manage the apiary – one of the elements of our cooperation with donors – ourselves, with passion and in the spirit of sustainable development. Wherever possible, we operate in a circular system. Our workshop is powered by solar energy.

We care for our bee colonies with a focus on their well-being rather than honey production (extensive beekeeping). We look after the apiary site, maintain the surrounding areas, and cooperate with local farmers. We usually seek areas for joint initiatives close to our base in order to minimize the transport carbon footprint and support local communities.

Our Mission

We strive to work and act in accordance with the principles of sustainable development. We promote these ideas and encourage them to become everyday habits for as many people as possible. We want to share our experience, knowledge, and passion so that future generations can continue this work.

What matters to us?

Education

This is the foundation of our mission. Through education, we shape attitudes that are responsible for the state and future of the environment.

We connect different groups to raise public awareness and drive real change.

We believe in achieving harmony between the needs of present and future generations, the economy, and respect for the environment.

We focus on programs and initiatives that bring real benefits, rather than those centered only on media impact.

Statutory goals of the Foundation

I

Protecting the natural environment,

especially in relation to the protection of bees and other pollinators.

II

Increasing the population of animals,

particularly bees and other pollinating species.

III

Promoting the protection of bees,

their natural habitats, and their importance in the ecosystem.

IV

Organizing and supporting environmental education

in society.

Where do we want to go?

We hold the bee in our name in great respect and affection. But we do not focus on it alone – we want to go further.

Insects - our allies

Awareness of the importance of insects for humans is still limited. This includes both wild bees and thousands of other species that play diverse roles in ecosystems. We want to change this and more widely promote simple actions that anyone can take to help. We aim to create and restore habitats for insects, as well as protect areas that already serve this natural function – woodlands, forests, meadows, and peatlands.

Advancing sustainability goals

We aim to be strongly involved in activities related to the green transition and innovation. This includes projects that address climate change, its impacts, and ways to adapt to them. Promoting sustainable practices helps minimize the negative impact of human activity on the environment, benefiting future generations.

Education and scientific research

Solid knowledge and education make change understandable, accepted, and supported. We strive to make our educational activities engaging and accessible to all who are looking for ways to live a more sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle. We want to continue cooperating with our current research and academic partners and expand this collaboration to include new ones.

Our Team

Meet the people behind the day-to-day work of the Foundation – planning activities, preparing and delivering projects. They work in the field and at universities, run educational sessions, organize outdoor events, and write articles and social media posts. Fully committed professionals who believe in what they do.

Meet the whole team

How did it all begin?

My great-grandfather was already a beekeeper, so to continue the tradition, my father gave me a special gift – the beekeeper’s “bible,” Beekeeping Management by Wanda Ostrowska. I was twelve at the time… and that’s when I got hooked. Shortly after, we received three old hives, which we renovated ourselves, creating our first small apiary. We later built new hives on our own, introducing small improvements based on the experience we gained. The apiary kept growing…

Together with my father, a nature enthusiast and professional forester, we became increasingly involved in beekeeping. The following years were a time of intensive learning, significant growth in knowledge, and gaining hands-on experience. We also expanded the apiary, which was never meant to be a source of income, but rather – first a hobby and later a true passion. It required hard work, but it also offered a unique opportunity to live close to nature.
